Purpose

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented and proven Executive Adjuster / Surveyor to join our Latent
Defects team covering the South of the UK.
 
Reporting to our Latent Defects Lead you will be responsible for handling your own broad portfolio of latent defect
property claims, from investigation, policy interpretation and developing settlement strategies, ensuring company
standards are met in relation to all technical and operational policies and procedures, including data protection and
information security.

Key Accountabilities

  • Leading the investigations and settlement of latent defect insurance structural warranty claims, working closely with our clients claims handling teams.
  • Co-ordinating the reporting and loss in accordance with protocol guideline.
  • Attending sites mostly across the South of the UK to meet Policyholders to enhance their custome journey by investigating building defects, identifying causation, negotiating and agreeing settlement of claims in a professional manner.
  • Providing desktop services to provide advice on coverage and causation issues to clients.
  • Ability to understand complex reports from other building professionals, and an ability to translate into understandable format for clients to aid indemnity decisions.
  • Liaising with Policyholders and Insurers to achieve professional and timely conclusion of claims.
  • Completing on site investigations with knowledge of new homes construction and preferable experience in new homes defect pathology and diagnosis a distinct advantage.
  • Produce exceptional quality reports in compliance with professional standards and internal guidelines in accordance with agreed timescales.
  • Actively contribute towards McLarens’ business development programme by providing a first-class service.
  • Undertaking projects and other ad hoc work as required across the UK.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Successful candidates would be ideally CILA qualified with other industry qualifications being a distinct advantage, although we will consider those with a desire to advance to CILA in the future, with the right level of surveying / latent defect / loss adjusting experience.
  • You will have proven experience in the property loss adjusting sector / surveying and demonstrable focus on quality, excellent verbal communication, technical and organisational skills.
  • Capability in negotiation, decision making and problem-solving, coupled with strong stakeholder management.
  • An ability to develop strong relationships both internally and externally is imperative.
 
Due to the geographic coverage of the role, travel will be required.
The role is home based but linked to London office.
