Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented qualified engineer with a maintenance, technical services and/or customer support engineering background. Ideally the candidate will have a Pilot licence - fixed or rotary wing aircraft, or experience covering Airlines to General Aviation or OEM. We are looking for someone seeking to enhance their career by joining the field of Aviation Claims Adjusting.
Reporting to the Director for France, the Aviation Surveyor will be responsible for Aviation Hull and Liability claims which involves interacting with aircraft operators, repair organisations, international Insurers, Reinsurers, Brokers and Law firms. The position involves a wide variety of project management assignments and diverse field work ranging from aircraft recovery to the handling of major accidents and liaison with authorities, manufacturers and accident investigators. Customer support is key and looking after our Clients’ interests is our primary concern.
The Aviation Surveyor will assess not only the cause of a loss but also the repair methods and costs and supervise the salvage sales when required. Issuing accident reporting to Insurers and other desktop activities, will be carried out in accordance with company procedures and with full use of the McLarens One claims management system.
The recruit will benefit from on-job training and receive support from their peers and manager in order to develop the skills necessary for this interesting and challenging role enabling them to join a dynamic surveyor network of 80 aviation experts.
Key Accountabilities
Operations
- Performing loss survey work, technical appraisals and reporting on behalf of insurers and interested parties, undertaking consultancy tasks as required
- Effectively managing project files and work in progress with timely responses to instructions and enquiries
- Close liaison with clients and colleagues worldwide regarding claims handling
- Ensuring activities meet and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care
Business Development
- Developing awareness of market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and information
- Identifying and contributing to new business development opportunities
- Forging strong partnerships with key accounts and ensuring account retention
- Carrying out PR activities with the Insurance Market
- Successful handling of claims and reporting, to agreed quality standard
- Compliance with financial, legal and administrative requirements
- Development of market and competitor awareness
- Contribution to the team.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential:
- Talented and motivated Graduate Engineers or Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with practical experience in the areas of repair, maintenance, estimation and/or technical evaluation on a variety of aircraft. Latest modern aircraft technology knowledge and practical experience
- Fluency in English and French
- The ability to prepare concise and accurate assessments and comprehensive, well-structured reports for technical and non-technical readers
- Analytical, reasoned and methodical approach with strong technical knowledge
- Team player with team ethics and a proven teamwork ethos
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to enable development of working relationships with clients and colleagues
- Flexibility and willingness to travel at short notice
- Computer literacy with a practical understanding of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Desirable:
- Pilot licence
- Overseas experience
- Additional language skills would be advantageous
