The opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Country Manager to join our team in Qatar. Reporting to the UAE Country Manager, and working closely with regional and international management, the successful candidate will be responsible for the effective control and management of Claims activities for the Qatar office based in Doha. The role will be office based and entail regular travel across the region.

 

Summary of responsibilities:

 

Management 

  • Management, control and development of Claims activities.
  • Handle ad hoc queries from insurers and other interested parties, ensuring timely and effective handling of matters arising.
  • Prepare the annual budget and action plan for the local office appropriate to the overall strategy
  • Effectively maximise opportunities for profit, taking responsibility for the office budget approved by the Board
  • Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets
  • Assist with the control and recording of fee earning time and invoicing across the department 
    for the effective management of work in progress.
  • Recruit and recommend for appointment staff to meet agreed staff levels and operational targets
  • Motivate, lead and develop staff to meet maximum potential ensuring availability of necessary skills and experience at all levels
  • Organise and direct day to day activities acting as a mentor as required, allocating work and overseeing and managing projects to ensure quality of output
  • Act as a technical referral point for the local team, and liaise with Regional management regarding allocation of resources for complex matters
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals with all staff agreeing targets and completing personal development plans 
  • Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations environmental policies and general duty of care

 

Business Development

  • Work closely with the Commercial Development Director (Middle East), as well as regional and international management to further develop the business in Qatar.
  • Identify and contribute to new business development with identification of opportunities, research and proposal development. 
  • Promote and lead on Thought Leadership Opportunities within the teams such that we raise the profile of individuals within the team and promote the McLarens offering to the widest audience.

 

Operations 

  • Handle an appropriate caseload of larger and more complex losses both in Qatar and regionally.

 

Ideal requirements of the role: 

  • Significant experience in the commercial loss adjusting sector, or in allied professions, demonstrating a focus on quality communication and organisation skills.
  • Chartered loss adjuster, CILA qualified or equivalent.
  • Experience of managing a high performing remote team, including coaching and mentoring adjusters and non-technical staff Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  • Financial and budgetary experience
  • A proven track record of building strong working relationships, externally and internally Strong stakeholder management with the ability to balance multiple deadlines
  • Personal pride in delivering outputs on time, with a focus on quality and communication
  • Enthusiasm and ambition to grow the role and the team, to continue achieving positive outcomes and growth targets 
  • A willingness to travel where required
