Purpose

As an insurance claims professional, you will play a crucial role in disaster recovery following catastrophic events such as earthquakes, fire, cyclones, cyber-attacks and tsunamis. McLarens is currently offering an opportunity to be selected to join our unique traineeship program. You will receive hands-on experience in everything from inspecting and evaluating damage to interpreting insurance policies and assisting with the settlement of insurance claims.


During this 12-month intensive program, you will learn from experienced Adjusters while being exposed to major and complex claims across a vast array of industries. In addition to on-the-job development, you will also be provided with structured internal and external training opportunities while being part of a global business.

While knowledge of the insurance industry is ideal, there are no qualification pre-requisites as this is an entry-level role. We welcome applicants with experience in a broad range of industries and disciplines.


Key Accountabilities

 

  • Working with assigned supervisor/s, you will support the loss adjusting activities for the business
  • Receive new instructions, triage and allocate claims in accordance with McLarens guidelines
  • Attend site meetings as/when required to assist with documenting claim assessment including minute meetings, capture evidence (e.g. via site notes, photographs, video, surveys)
  • Proactively manage contractors in line with client service level agreements
  • Draft documentation to manage key stakeholders throughout the course of the claim (including reports, letters, loss management plans)
  • Liaise with internal and external parties to ensure data integrity within business systems (eg. Vision, MC1)
  • Research, analyse and interpret complex information from a range of sources, including legal contracts (such as policy wordings and leases)
  • Compile and maintain data spreadsheets, as well as reconcile invoices to monitor claim costs
  • Provide excellent customer service to key stakeholders using a variety of methods (from site visits, emails, phone, remote meetings) to deliver outcomes on claims
  • Complete both desktop and on-site investigations (requiring regular travel, possibly interstate)
  • Assist with marketing and account management for key clients
  • Undertake projects and other ad hoc work as required
  • Participate in required training sessions/seminars/activities as directed by your Supervisor
  • As part of your traineeship, you will be expected to work towards achievement of your AICLA qualification (this will be reimbursed as per the internal Training and Development Policy)
  • Satisfactory complete learning objectives as outlined at the commencement of the Traineeship program

  • Working towards completion of a tertiary qualification in Law, Accounting/Commerce, Engineering or similar may be advantageous dependent on product line
